Most of us find we are at our strongest at various points of the day or night. Personally my getting things done around the house and being creative ability is strongest very early in the morning after a good night’s sleep/rest. I’ve always been that way, so at night when I plan the next day (so my tomorrow), I always put things that have to be completed around my house and writing that I want to be great to do at the start of my day.
Do you know when your brain works to the highest of it’s ability?
If you don’t and you want to know when you could work at your best, why not try doing various work tasks – your personal and professional things at different times of the day. If you have a Monday – Friday 9 – 5 job you get paid to do, so you can’t do as you wish to do during the hours you are getting paid, try to do your various things you love and tasks you feel you have to do, during your days off – which for most is at the weekend.
This does depend on your age and your life’s responsibilities for how able you are to just go with the flow of being able to do what you want to do, when you want to do it. If you’re young enough to still be at school, generally you’re told what to do and when, you could just keep a: ‘my thinking in each present moment’ diary. This should help you know which hour of the day you’ll feel strong and clever enough to do your school work well.
If you’re a grown up, so you’ve finished your traditional education years, also do try to keep a: ‘my thinking and how I’m feeling in each of my present moments diary’. This should help you grow a picture about when your brain works at its best – be it day or night.
Then if you have the luxury of being self-employed, so you work from home, you’ll be able to control how and when you use your time. A luxury I have and I recommend
If you think best during the night, a bit annoying that an idea you have might wake you up, try having a note book by the side of your bed, so you can capture your brilliant thoughts before you try to go back to sleep. This should help you to go back to sleep, because it should stop you repeating the thoughts you’ve had, so you’re not giving your brain time to rest.
If your brain doesn’t get to have a sleep it might not work well day or night.
Once you’ve discovered whether your brain works at its best day or night, really focus on allowing yourself to have space to think and work day or night – so you’re always getting the best out of your brain. This will help you to feel proud of yourself.
