Blog: 240 How & why to celebrate being you – go get em’ Hun!

To boost your sense of self-worth and to have healthy mental well-being you should celebrate being you by counteracting negativity and by foresting a positive mindset.

I bet you’re thinking “that sounds great but, how does one do these things?

That was my way of thinking when I started boosting my self-worth and making my mind healthier = seeing the good side of lots of my life’s things.

So, I researched how to get my s*** together, so I could go get em’! Em’ being happy: thoughts, vibes, and feelings.

I found these as things - ways to start to celebrating being me. Please give em’ a go Hun:

·      Dedicate a day to pamper yourself, a time when you don’t have to look after members of your family, so you can focus on you being pampered and chilled out.

·      Take a decent amount of time to hang out with your friends and your chosen family.

·      Dress in affirming ways. This means to dress in clothes that suit your mood, place you are going to be and that you feel comfortable in.

·      Plan some to have an adventure on your own. By visiting a town, village, or city that you’ve always liked the look and sound of.

·      Take a class at something new to you. E.g. dancing, painting, cooking, or yoga. Whatever you’ve always fancied having a go at.

·      Compliment yourself. You can do this by looking at yourself in your mirror and saying, “well done me and fair play me - I look good today!" and / or place sticky notes around your house that affirm positive things about yourself.

When you do things like these, you’ll be celebrating yourself to reclaim the narrative that may have been written for you by others. Now you’re older and you have self-belief it’s time for you to make the rules about how you can and should spend your time = to feel good about being you. You can do this by celebrating being you. To do this, it doesn’t have to be your birthday. You should pick a date that means a lot to you, e.g. the date you left home, your graduation date, or simply a day that feels special to you. A day when you can and should put yourself first.
