If you're like me you care about all beings on our shared home = Earth.
If you care about animals, you'll be a member of (donate to & receive news from) WORLD ANIMAL PROTECTION.
Very recently they sent me a booklet called 'INSIDE THE WORLD OF ORANGUTANS'
And what I read about that is happening to Orangutans horrified me & really upset me.
One of the stories I read about in the booklet is about 'Seumayam' He is a Sumatran orphan. He was stolen from his mother when he was a child. He was sold into the illegal pet trade, and kept for years by a farmer, where he was trapped in a concrete cage with a chain around his neck - unable to move more than a new meters.
He really, really suffered (horribly), with painful open wounds on his hip from the chains rubbing on his skin. HIS LIFE WAS PAIN, CHAINS, CONCRETE & COMPLETE ISOLATION.
Thanks to a team who rescue orangutans, Seumayam was finally rescued when he was around 7 years old. His right arm no longer seemed to function properly, & there was an open wound on his hand.
Sadly despite treatment, the nerves in his arm had been severely damaged. This meant amputation was the only option to save his life.
When he had recovered from surgery Seumayam spent the next 2 years learning the skills his mother was never able to teach him - a chance she was cruelly robbed of when he was snatched from her.
Seumayum learned the skills he needed to survive & enjoy his life, so he was released into a protected area of the forest where he was monitored for the next 2 years.
Now he lived in the forest as a wild orangutan should.
Now you've read about the bad things that are happening to orangutans, please will you give £22.00 today to help rescue , rehabilitate & release more orangutans back into their home - the wild.
If you can't afford to donate £22.00 but you can afford to donate a couple or a few quid, please do this because every penny counts in an emergency.
To donate you'll need to visit: www.worldanimalprotection.org.uk/orangutan
or call them Mon - Fri 10am - 2pm on 0800 316 9966.
