Blog 226: How to & why you should really go for those goals you have

If you have goals (whatever they may be), achieving / getting them is really important and it feels good because they give you a direction in your life (short & long term plans), motivation and a sense of accomplishment. This means you’ll have a more fulfilled and successful life. Get in!

Here’s a detailed explanation of why you should strive for your goals:

·       Direction and Purpose:

Goals give your life structure and purpose, helping you to focus your efforts and make decisions that align with your aspirations.

·       Motivation and Action:

Having clear goals can be a powerful motivator, pushing you to take action and overcome obstacles.

·       Sense of Accomplishment:

Achieving your goals, no matter how big or small, can lead to a sense of pride and satisfaction.

·       Personal Growth:

Pursuing goals can challenge you to learn new skills, expand your knowledge, and become a better version of yourself.

·       Improved Well-being:

Setting and achieving goals can lead to increased self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being.

·       Clarity and Focus:

Goals help you prioritize what's important and stay focused on what you want to achieve.

·       Tracking Progress:

Goals provide a roadmap for your journey, allowing you to track your progress and see how far you've come.

·       Increased Success:

By setting and working towards goals, you increase your chances of achieving success in various areas of your life.

·       Living a Meaningful Life:

Pursuing your goals can help you live a life that is aligned with your values and passions, leading to a greater sense of meaning and purpose.

If you still aren’t sure how to figure out what your goals are that you want to achieve during your lifetime, give these things a go:

Reflect on your values: e.g. do you feel the need to help others out, and / or have you always wanted to be the best at what you’re able to do. Plus, think about what is really important to you.

Explore your interests and passions: e.g. I’ve always loved music, so I went and got a ‘Theatre Dance’ degree and I’m a DJ these days. I’d feel lost without having a beat to tap my toes to and to enjoy having a boogie with others  = having fun!

What activities do you enjoy and find interesting? Come on - you know you want to spend more time doing whatever floats your boat.

Recognize your strengths and skills: What are you naturally good at? What makes you feel great when you’re doing it? This will be because you’ve often received compliments about how well you do it. Also, endorphins will rush through your body’s system when you love anything you do. Endorphins are the natural internal feel-good hormones.

Consider your ideal future: What kind of life do you realistically envision for yourself?

It should be a life that is realistic for you, because as much as we’d all love to be national lottery jackpot winners and go shopping loads etc, winning the lottery jackpot might not happen for you. But if you want to find the love of your life, work in a job that you enjoy, be great at your hobby etc - Go for it! You can make these goals happen. Talk to the right people (for your career to be what you want it to be), work hard (at all things you spend your time doing), look in the right places (for the love of your life).

Believe in yourself, so you can have self-confidence and know your identity, so you can be liked and respected for the great and lovely person you are.

Having Self-Belief is awesome and an uber cool thing to do.
