Blog: 162 You have stamina within you that allows u to live your life well, while losing less energy
Stamina is what allows you to perform your daily activities at a higher level.
Stamina is the strength and energy that allows you to sustain physical or mental effort for a long period of time.
There are many lifestyle changes you can make to build up your stamina:
Exercise may be the last thing on your mind when you’re feeling low on energy, but consistent exercise will help build your stamina. Results of a 2017 study: 'Trusted Source' showed that the participants who were experiencing work-related fatigue improved their energy levels after six weeks of exercise intervention. They improved their work ability, sleep quality, and cognitive functioning.
Yoga can greatly increase your stamina and ability to handle stress. As part of a study from 2016: 27 medical students attended yoga and meditation classes for six weeks. They saw significant improvements in stress levels and sense of well-being. They also reported more endurance and less fatigue.
There are plenty of yoga books and DVDs out there you can buy or borrow for a short time from your library about both yoga & meditation.
I can recommend a DVD to you, called: geribody yoga. The name gives it away that yoga is shown & taught by Spice Girl - Geri Halliwell. It’s great because it suits you whether it’s a new thing for you to try out, or you’re a bit of an expert. If you’re an old pro at it, you could use the more basic poses to strengthen and stretch your body in an easy way, before you push yourself to do the more advanced poses.
If you’re totally new to it, you need to know, you must warm up your muscles by going for a short jump around your home space or by going for a jog. If you fail to warm up your muscles, you might pull them and this is quite painful when you rest or walk.
Meditation can be tricky at first if you’re a chatterbox like I am, but if you get a ‘how to meditate guidebook’ for newbies, and you do it most days before you start your day. You’ll become very comfortable doing it and it will come naturally to you. Meditation will clear and settle your mind ready to take on your day’s activities. If you do it again before you go to sleep, you’ll be able to clear your mind from any of your day’s stresses, to settle you down for a good night’s peaceful and calm night’s sleep.
Listening to music can increase your cardiac efficiency. In studies participants had a lowered heart rate when exercising while listening to their chosen music. They were able to put less forth effort into exercising when listening to music than exercising without music.
Ashwagandha is a herb that is used for overall health and vitality. It can also be used to increase cognitive function and reduce stress. Ashwagandha is also used to boost energy levels. In a 2015 study, 50 athletic adults took 300 mg capsules for 12 weeks and they increased their cardiorespiratory endurance and overall quality of life than those in the placebo group.
Having high stamina allows you to perform your daily activities at a higher level while losing less energy.
