Blog: 217 Yoga is cool - it = H, H & H

Yoga brings us H, H & H: Harmony, Happiness & Health.

It heals you in a holistic way, by uniting your body & mind for greater well-being & serenity.

Don’t worry if you doing yoga makes you feel like a bit of a new-age hippy – because by doing yoga you’re being a very cool, modern & intelligent hippy type of person. Yoga is a very cool form of exercise to do. I bet your friends will want to practice yoga with you. They’ll notice how fit, harmonious, healthy, & happy you are since you started doing yoga. They will want to look & feel like you do.

If you feel hold anxiety in your body because you might be over worked, under paid & / or depressed / upset about things in your life, you probably have a tense achy back, neck, shoulder(s) etc.

The practice of yoga improves not only physical symptoms, but it also stimulates & harmonises your emotional, attitudinal, & nervous system. Also, it is beneficial for helping to clear up specific ailments such as allergies, asthma, arthritis, chronic fatigue, back, neck & shoulder pain.

Yoga will help you to have a positive outlook about life. This has been shown to help prevent age-related memory loss. Researchers found that enthusiastic, cheerful people experience less memory decline with age = H, H & H - Win, Win & Win!

If you love to dance, but you’re not very flexible you can / should warm up your body (by jogging for a bit), then do some yoga positions that stretch out your leg’s hamstring muscles.

Always find a clear of objects space on a floor, wear comfortable clothes, warm up your muscles first – so you don’t pull / rip your muscles while you’re doing yoga stretches, &listen to some chilled-out music such as ‘Ibiza’s hot chill out by the sea spot: Café Del Mar albums. They have chilled out tunes with a soft party beat. Chilled out clubbing music is perfect for doing yoga to. It’s perfect for you to be the ultimate ‘cool, modern & intelligent hippy you are being now.

You can: watch yoga classes on YouTube & there are lots of DVDs you can purchase to learn how to do yoga. E.G. - Spice Girl Geri Halliwell teaches us on a DVD called ‘geri body yoga’ – with Katy Appleton. Another good one to start you off is a DVD called ‘Ashtanga YOGA – introductory poses – MASTER THE ESSENTIALS’.

Please trust me, starting each day off with about 30 mins yoga is the perfect way to begin your day. You’ll feel trimmer, body beautiful, & your mind will feel calm and balanced.

There are sequences you can do that make you feel charged with energy (LIFE), & they’ll wake up your mind (Light). Sequences such as: ‘dynamic standing warm-up, squatting & a good old: standing stretch.

It’s good to work on one’s breath by doing breathing exercises too. Yogic breathing removes stress. With practice we can learn to de-stress ourselves in almost any situation. This is done by simply breathing through your nose & engaging the diaphragm in slow, deep breathing movements for a few moments.

Once you’ve had a go at either a yoga class, or you are doing yoga in your house, always end every yoga session with a winding down, final relaxation & ‘grounding’ ritual. These practices may be the most important part of your yoga session(s) – as they promote an attitude of healing at many levels.

When you do have a yoga session, you’ll feel energised, fit, healthy, and ready for whatever life throws at you. Now go and get your energised chill out yoga session done. Trust me, you’ll feel a lot better once you practise yoga in your life.
