What is solidarity?
Solidarity provides strength by fostering a shared sense of purpose, support, and collective power against adversity. It can be practiced through direct action like protests, community work, and volunteering, or through more subtle actions such as expressing empathy, making donations, and simply being present for others. By recognising shared struggles and interconnected challenges, solidarity helps people overcome feelings of isolation and build movements that can effect change.
I don’t know about you, but I do express empathy and am present to & for my friends and family. Plus, I try to support others by donating money and by blogging about the various causes I think are very important for all of us to know & care about.
Why I think you should have solidarity as part of your life = your way of being a decent person.
Solidarity is more than just a word – it's the force that moves history forward. It means standing together when the odds are stacked against us, refusing to let anyone fight alone and recognising that when one worker is exploited, the rights of all workers are at risk.
Having solidarity teaches us the importance of working together and helping each other. This can be something as simple as helping a colleague of yours at work with how to do a task and or solve a problem that the company you work for has. You helping others out at your job, will look very good to your boss. Who knows you might get yourself a promotion or pay rise because you are being an awesome member of the team = of your company.
When we work together in solidarity, we can overcome any problem or difficulty.
Campaigning can often feel like we're battling away by ourselves, but when others show solidarity with us, we get a sense of how much support there is out there. It shows us there's a way to keep building the movement we're part of and that we can win.
E.G. All of us should be doing our bit to help the victims of war in Gaza.
For you to help a family that is: Lenna is the mum to 3 children and their husband and dad got taken away from his family 7 months ago and he hasn’t been seen since then. Lenna struggles to feed her family because food prices have risen by a ridiculous amount of money. To find out about how the war is ruining this family’s life, and so you can donate as much as you can – remember every penny counts. Please visit this website and donate however much you can afford to:
Reading about this family’s struggles and seeing the faces of this family brought tears to my eyes, so don’t look at it if you’re feeling upset/emotional today. But, please spread the word about this Blog: 239, so your friends can find out how to support this family = victims of war.
