Blog: 235 Self-respect & consciousness are beautiful things

Having self-respect is a beautiful thing because it leads to you having an internal sense of happiness. Plus, it promotes you to have mental well-being.

It’ll make you feel and know that your life has a purpose.

You can have self-respect by being honest with yourself about the kind of person you are, how you treat others and about your actions and your personal values.

You having self-respect is the foundation for you to have a balanced, confident, and fulfilling life.

To help you have a clear mind, so you can understand yourself, you should give meditation a go.

If you want to wake up your consciousness, so you can become more aware of yourself, you should practise mindfulness and meditation (if you Google these things – you’ll find out how to do them). Also, you’ll need to journal your thoughts and feelings. If you have people, you’re close to i.e. friends and family, you should ask them for feedback about who you are = do they like how you are to others and to yourself?

You should regularly reflect on your emotions and your reactions to other’s behaviour. Plus, reflect on how your actions affect others – this will indicate to you whether you are worth having self-respect. You might find that if others respect you it’s a push in the right direction for you to let / make yourself have self-respect.

To truly find out who you are, ask yourself all these questions and write about these things:

·      In a few words describe your personality.

·      List 5 of your most dominant interests.

·      Describe your character; include your virtues, strengths and weaknesses.

·      List the past 4 opportunities that have opened door for you. List who made them happen for you.

·      In the coming year, what opportunities would you like to have open for you?

·      List places you have lived and places you have travelled to i.e. been on holiday to.

Review your answers with a trusted friend or a member of your family = someone you have regular contact with. What conclusions about your life’s mission can you draw from what you have found out about yourself and about other’s thoughts about you are? = What are you here on Earth to do?

This should help you reflect on where you’ve been in life, and it should help you to find out where you want to go in life. These things will help you know what you can contribute to the world and its people. = what you can contribute to your community to a make it safer and happier community to be part of.

Look out for the unique life experiences that have shaped who you are and reflect on them.

Your purpose in life will emerge from reflecting on all your thoughts, feelings, and answers to the questions you’ll read in this blog post.
